It’s our last week of December giveaways! This week, we’re giving away this whimsical macaw feather fascinator:

This fascinator is handmade from naturally fallen, hand curled macaw feathers, white marabou feathers, a pink, green, and blue button finding with clear rhinestone accents, and vintage Austrian crystals floating mid-air on monofilament thread. The snap clip on the back makes the piece very versatile to wear (it can be turned at any angle.)

I won a giveaway!

You may recall me mentioning a giveaway for my friend Leslie’s shop, Peach Plum Pear, a few blogs ago. Guess what? I won! I’ve never won a blog giveaway before, and I’m so excited for this to be my first! Not only did I get to pick out a couple of pieces of beautiful jewelry, but I get to promote someone who really deserves it. Want to see what I chose?

 

I’m in love with these bee earrings. They’re sparkly without being too flashy, so they can be dressed up or down, and they’re so darn cute.

This blue rhinestone bracelet is perfect for stacking with my other bracelets, and, like the earrings, they have a black finish that makes them versatile. I especially like the way it looks layered with my studded cuff. I love to mix a little bit tough with a little bit girly.

Tuesday’s Treasure – Just Peachy

Since I haven’t had time to make any new treasuries this week, I thought I’d browse the ETC group’s treasuries. I found this beauty, and though it’s already gotten lots and lots of views and clicks, it deserves more!

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to love the color peach. It all started when I worked at an independently owned Hallmark store. We got different colored shirts for different seasons, and one summer the color of choice was peach. I was terrified, until I put on the shirt. There were so many compliments: “That color looks so good on you!” As my ego boosted and my hatred of the color (spurred by early 90’s pastel paintings and southwestern furniture) subsided, I realized that peach is just a romantically less common version of pink. Embrace the peach.

Friday’s Favorites – A Quick Getaway

I’m so excited about this weekend! Tom and I are going to the “A Weekend To Remember” marriage retreat in Grapevine. We’ll be attending seminars and doing fun activities together. We have a date night planned for Saturday, and I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. We rarely get to do this kind of thing – taking little mini vacations. Heck, we don’t even get to take big vacations, except for the occasional trip to Louisiana to see his side of the family. Anyway, I’m just geekily happy. I’m already mostly packed and ready to go.

This week, I’m cleaning up the apartment for a Premiere Jewelry Party I’m hosting for a friend. I’m also getting our Halloween costumes together! I found a cheap Dorothy costume, and am working on the scarecrow costume and background for Trunk Or Treat. After that, all we need is some thrifty clothing for a werewolf costume and we’re set.

Mom and I are getting ready for a yard sale next weekend, which will hopefully be a huge success so she’ll have less to move when she finds a new place. Also hoping the weather stays sunny and cool – prime sale conditions.
