Whatever Weekend: In The Works

As I worked on finishing the letters for my friend’s little girl, I realized that we haven’t listed much in our shops lately! So, finished and listed a hair clip in our JuJu Eyeball store:

As my hubby would say, it’s made with my two favorite colors: sparkly and shiny! I covered a plastic skeleton hand in blue glitter, made a couple of pinwheels from green tulle and black lace, and cut/formed shapes with patent leather ribbon and added an ostrich feather. Viola! Super lightweight and super fun to wear. Now, back to the letters, here’s what the progress looks like so far:

Apologies for the crummy images – I’m definitely a fan of natural light as opposed to flash. Anyway, a fairytale princess theme with lots of pink and a dash of sparkle equals four year old heaven (I hope!) I’ve said before that I’ve never considered myself a painter, but I think I’d like to take a class to beef up my unexistent knowledge of mixing, highlighting, shadowing … because I’m just making it up as I go along. Although I am pretty happy with the results as is; it’s hard not to be proud of completing something of which you have little to no history or skill.

Finally, happy Father’s Day to all you dads and single moms out there! (Single moms wear the dad hat, too, you know.) I hope it’s been a wonderful day, and I wish everyone a fantastic week!

Friday’s Favorites – Valentine Edition

Time to spread the Valentine love, and share some of our most recent favorites on Etsy:

Cassette Tape Papercut by squirrelandfox

Pink Elephants by maybesparrowsplace

1950s Fenton Glass Perfume Pitcher by crazydreamz

Vintage Silk Cocktail Dress by chiffonier

(Of course, there’s plenty more romance where that came from! Just search EtsyXO or Valentine’s Day on etsy.com to find it.)

I have a love/hate relationship with the holiday (who doesn’t?) but I just have this image, combining all of the items above, of wearing that dress while pouring a yummy spritzer from the Fenton vase as the hubby opens his awesome papercut card and the cute little pachyderms look on from the background. Of course, we’re in a dreamy vintage kitchen, complete with sky blue fridge and diner-style breakfast table. And a million dollars and a pony, because, what the heck, it’s my fantasy and I can have what I want.

In reality, we’ll be taking our nerdy selves to the Sci-Fi Expo tomorrow to celebrate. Next best thing, don’t you think? Maybe I’ll rub elbows with Eliza Dushku.

Whatever Weekend – Fancy Hair Wear

Mom has been working her patootie off creating new headbands, hair clips and fascinators! We’ll be listing them throughout the week, so keep your eyes peeled.

Here’s the first in the spring/summer line:

Click the pic to see silly pictures of me wearing this fabulous headband!

This one was inspired by vintage swim caps (and an authentic vintage feather headband Mom used to have.) Each feather is hand curled, and the headband is line with soft black velvet ribbon. You’ll see lots of bright colors and whimsy in our shop within the next week!

Tuesday’s Treasure – Bills & Frills

Happy Tuesday, Friends! Here’s one of the latest treasuries we’ve been featured in. Very romantic and spring-y:

Where The Roses Kiss The Sky by Melony

On a totally different note, I can’t wait until we’re done paying out our previous lease! Just a few more months now, and Tom will hopefully be able to quit his job to focus on school and our work here at the Tri C. This has been such a huge transition for us, and it’ll be nice to be able to simplify our schedule.
