Another Week Away Giveaway!

giveawaypic

9/23: Congratulations to our randomly selected winner, Cheryl Pullen Navalinsky!

In light of all the loving support we’ve received in the Martha Stewart Living American Made competition, and the deadline for the first round of voting being extended another week (and two days, to be precise,) we’ve decided to hold our very own giveaway!

Each time you vote for a nominee in the competition, you enter to win prizes from MSL, like an American Express gift card. Now, every day you vote, you can enter to win prizes from us, too!

Vote now through 9/22/13. One lucky winner will be randomly selected on 9/23/13 to win this fantastic prize package of unique, American made gifts, a value of over $60.00!:

012

1 $25 Etsy Gift Card; 1 Luchador Mask Pillow by Studio Longoria; 1 Bamboo Calendula Bar Soap by Clover Hollow Soaps & Sundries; 1 Blue Rhinestone Bracelet by Leslie Anne Levine; 15% OFF Your Next Purchase at Buy Me Love or JuJu Eyeball on Etsy; 1 Surprise Gift From Our Store, Buy Me Love!

Two Ways To Enter:

1. This step is mandatory. Simply vote for us, using any number of your 6 daily votes here:

Martha Stewart - American Made 2013 - Nominee Badge

Then, comment that you voted below, and include the total number of votes after you voted UPDATE: No need to keep track of the total number of times you’ve voted, personally! Just include the total number on the screen after you’ve voted for the day. For example, if the number is 2,222 before you vote, and you vote for us 6 times, the total you’ll include in your comment will be 2,228. Easy peasy. Sorry for the confusion! Please leave only one “I voted!” comment per voter per day, not one comment per vote. For example, if you use all 6 of your votes on our profile (wink, wink,) there’s no need to comment 6 times – just comment once.

2. For extra chances to win, you can Pin this giveaway on Pinterest , and leave a comment below up to once a day that you pinned, including the pin URL. (After you pin, click the “see it now” button to copy and paste the pin’s URL into your comment below.) This entry method is completely optional.

IMPORTANT NOTES: If you leave more than one “I voted!” comment, or “I pinned it!” comment per day, only one of each of those comments will count toward your chances of winning. You do not need to have a WordPress.com account to enter. This contest is in no way affiliated with Martha Stewart Living/MSL American Made, or Etsy. Contest valid only in the Continental U.S.

How To Know If You Won:

The randomly selected winner of the prize package will be announced in this post on 9/23/13, and we will also contact the winner via the email address listed on their account. If you do not have a valid email address listed on the account you use to log in/comment, you must leave your email address in your comment(s.) (The $25 Etsy gift card will also be emailed to the winner.) If the winner does not respond within 48 hours, we will choose another winner for the prize package.

Thank you for supporting our small, handmade, and American made business, and good luck to all our voters!

Tuesday’s Treasure – A little of this, a little of that

Escape From The City

Escape From The City

Red and White (Made In Texas)

Red and White (Made In Texas)

It’s been a while since I’ve posted any treasuries, so I thought I’d share a couple from the end of last year that I thought you might like. The first one is clever, titled “Escape From The City,” featuring city and travel themed listings, including our JuJu Eyeball sparkly roach earrings. The next treasury follows one of my favorite themes – local! It’s also a Valentine theme, I suppose, in red and white. This is the first time any of my new harnesses have been featured – exciting!

(I apologize that I didn’t post these treasuries sooner – some items that were featured have already sold.)

So, if one of your new year’s resolutions involves buying locally, or supporting handmade/artisans/small business (and good for you for making that resolution,) this is a great place to start. Etsy can be a little overwhelming, even if you do a specific search, and treasuries can be a quick, aesthetically pleasing way to shop.

The weather has been consistently sunny for the past few days here in DFW, so I think, after a quick trip to the pharmacy, I’ll break out the new camera the hubby gave me for Christmas and take some photos for the shop.

Hope your new year has been wonderful so far!

First show of the season – Art Hunger

Just wanted to share some pictures of our first show of the season, and our first show representing our newest shop, JuJu Eyeball!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The day was slow (we guessed that about 20 customers passed by our booth,) due to little advertising, a festival down the street blocking traffic, and an electrical outage issue on the block. We did make some new vendor friends, and made a couple of great contacts with customers! Mom sold a couple of her sand castings and that was it, but the booth fee was very inexpensive. We ended up spending a little money on ourselves and for Christmas presents, and my husband (while running home to get the purse I forgot, and the wallet he didn’t realize he left at home until he was on his way back) brought one of our good friends back with him, so we ended up having a great time.

Art hungry!

We have almost exactly a month to plan for our booth at Grand Prairie’s Art Hunger show on October 6. It’s a monthly collection of local artists, featured at the Grand Prairie Convention Center in downtown. We’re excited to be doing a show before/near Halloween, something we haven’t done yet. It’s a perfect fit for our other shop, JuJu Eyeball, where we list all of our weird and creepy creations. Our latest listing is Lola; she’s larger than life, and we think you’ll love her as much as we do!

So, here’s to locking ourselves in and working our weird little fingers off!

Friday’s Favorites – Shoutout to Etsy817!

I can’t speak highly enough about the Etsy team we’re a part of. Etsy 817 is a group of artists and crafters in the 817 area code in Texas. We get together to plan events and promote each other, talk about techniques, and generally support each other and our businesses. Maybe I’m a little biased, but that doesn’t change the fact that these people are talented! I mean really, really talented. So, since most of them have ended up on our favorites lists in one way or another, I thought I’d share them all with you:

Take a look, and I garauntee you’ll find something you don’t want to live without.

Friday’s Favorites – The Hogwarts Experience

With the last of the Harry Potter movies playing in theaters, there’s lots of nostalgia going around! It’s a story that so many people have grown up with that it’s hard to let go. You begin to identify with the characters, memorize lines, pride yourself on knowing the back story when you’ve read the books … Okay, I do those things. I also tell my husband he could be a Weasley (tall, lanky, red hair, mischevious.)

So, this week’s favorites to geek out over are all about the magic that transfigured a generation:

Expecto Patronum Necklace by Exaltation

Harry Potter House Scarf by CocoCocoa

Golden Snitch Necklace by WolfbirdStudios

Keep Calm And Confundus Print by SarcasmandSmarts

Lumos Wall Hoop Art by ThePhantomMoon

Harry Potter Inspired Wood Wand by CustomWoodChuck

Make It Monday – Top 3 Craft Projects

Now that I’ve finished the first 3 of my “top 3” picks, it’s time to move on to the next 3! The whole purpose of this is to break down the massive list of craft and DIY projects I’ve accumulated into make-able chunks of 3. Once I complete 3 of the projects, I’ll move on to the next chunk. The idea is to try to complete all of them within one or two months to keep things moving.

So, without further adeu, I present my next 3 assignments:

The ingenious "Cooling Necklace"

This is, without a doubt, one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen. This is so simple and super appropo, considering we’ve had temps over 100 farenheit for the past two weeks!

Incredibly easy shift dress by Martha

I have a shift dress similar to the one in this tutorial, and I love it! It’s so breezy and comfortable, but the one I have is richly dyed with an intense purple, and needs to be hand washed. Let’s face it, if I can’t throw it in the washer, I don’t wear it much. I’m a low-maintenance gal.

A valance or pelmet for each of our humongous, utilitarian windows.

This project hinges on whether or not I can find a fabric that matches our extremely eclectic living area, and whether or not it’s affordable enough to make two of these monsters. The apartment we live in used to be office space, so think giant office windows. Yeah.

Anyway, I can’t wait to get started on these projects! I’m going to have to make a trip to the thrift store for a skirt to use for the dress, and possibly the hosiery for the necklace, and if I’m lucky, fabric for the valances.

Make It Monday – Paperclip “Chandelier” Project Result

Finally! The paperclip chandelier project is complete:

Colored paperclips and faux multicolored crystals.

The project took about half a day to make. If I had been working from a pattern, it probably wouldn’t have taken as long, but I decided to be brave and go without one. I altered the project by using multicolored paperclips and adding “crystals” – because you can’t have a chandelier without crystals! I eyeballed the size I needed, made the wire hoops, and started linking the paperclips in a triangle/diamond pattern. The hubs came home to a colorful surprise – and he really likes it. Which is good, considering it’s above the desk he uses in the kitchen. Since I already had the steel wire, this project cost me less than $2 in paperclips; well worth the investment.

This is the third and final of the first group of top 3 projects I picked last month. I’m so excited to finish the list and move on to new craft projects! Next Monday, I’ll list my next 3 projects to complete.

What are your top 3 project picks?

Tuesday’s Treasure – On Wednesday

Do you ever have one of those days where you’re aware that it’s one day, but it feels so much like a different day that it throws you off? I was so tired and useless on Monday that yesterday (Tuesday) felt like Monday and I totally forgot a blog post. Ooops! I have some good ones to share with you, too.

Pretty treasury made up entirely of decoration for your decolletage by our friend from Etsy817, larkspurstudios:

16 Reasons To Fancify Your Neck by larkspurstudios

I’ve made 2 treasuries in the past week under our new account, JuJu Eyeball. One showcases members of the AbbyNormal team:

Weird Is The New Black by moi

The other is for all the troublemaking men out there, who we love so much. Featuring members of the Clickety team:

Here Comes Trouble! by moi

Don’t forget – Father’s Day is Sunday! If you are fortunate enough for you father to still be around, be sure to at least send him a card to tell him you love him.
